It really feels like Spring is here, hooray. It's my oldest and dearest  friends birthday soon, the weathers improving, and in general it feels more Spring-y. Although I adore the snow, and cold as you know, I do like some sunshine too- I loved this Sunshine streaming through my window- just wonderful.

And then, I went into our indoor garden aka the Bathroom, which is full of plants (mostly Orchids, as I collect them and have lots of them throughout the house) and saw this happy face covered in dainty water droplets.

I can almost taste the summer days around the corner, sunshine and beach-huts, mackerel fishing on the beach at 4pm, out on the boats on the weekend for sea trips, and other things I hold close to my heart. Summer I'm waiting...

So, do you ever get in the mood, where you decide that your crafting stuff / fabrics/ threads/everything needs sorting out? Hmmm. Yes. I do. And I did,

I started by pressing the fabrics on my iron press ( if you haven't got an Iron Press- your mad! - ok maybe not litterally, but they make Ironing/Pressing so much quicker and easier) I pressed them all into rectangles and then stacked them, and they looked so neat and fun piled together.

I then canned/ Kilner Jarred my threads, which is pleasing on the eye, but also very useful to. It's also great as the jars are inexpensive and can be reused.

I made this to brighten a patch of the house yesterday, and I thought I'd share it with you, I hope you like it.

Buy a cheap box frame, approx 2cm + deep so you have a nice deep space in which to fill. I bought this one from a DIY store we have here in England called Wilkinsons-pick a colour to paint the frame, I used Farrow & Ball Lime White Number 1

I used a selection of our mixed buttons to fill the frame once painted, I also did give it two coats.
( I did sort through and get the brighter colours in the frame first so they'd show at the front.) Put the back back on tight- if you run out of buttons, you might like to put a few sheets of tissue paper in too.

I was also thinking of doing one with old Sylko used threads, if could get ones that fit inside the box.

And also one with lots of coloured beads. I'd like to see what you crafty people would put in them!

Heart Ribbon & Button Decoration.

Make this beautiful heart decoration in minutes with our simple instructions.

Step 1:

Clip fabric into a embroidery hoop so that it doesn't move when you're trying to sew onto it.

Step 2:

Draw out a heart shaped design on the front of the fabric as a guide using a Prym fading marker pen.

Step 3:

Start sewing pastel coloured buttons onto the decoration front, randomly in any order you like, with a pretty coloured embroidery thread.

Step 4:

Continue to sew on buttons until the whole of the heart is filled with buttons, or until you're happy with the look.

Step 5:

Cut the heart shape out of the fabric, and copy it onto another piece to make the back piece, cut it out and pin the two together.

Step 6:

Sew the two together using embroidery thread.

Step 7:

Cut a piece of beautiful ribbon about 8cm long to make the decoration hanger.

Step 8:

Double the ribbon over, and push onto a ready-threaded needle.

Step 9:

Push the needle through the back of the decoration and back through , and tie the thread, and cut the thread.

Step 10:

Hang somewhere special, and admire!

JANE PACKER

I always say that, if i weren't a Haberdashery I'd be a Florist.

I like sending flowers to my Mother, my family and men especially. (Although I've only ever done that once. Luckily he liked them!)

If I could spend a day with a florist, it would have to be with Jane Packer. I didn't realise until the other day you can actually book a course to go and learn about flowers in her Flower School, sounds devine doesn't it!
